Beyond the classroom, MetaBooth it's an exhibition hall and a global showcase for student work. It extends the classroom beyond its physical limits, allowing students to exhibit their creations to visitors from around the globe. The virtual walls of MetaBooth echo with the creativity and innovation of our students, reaching audiences far beyond the campus.
In this immersive virtual environment, students have the unique opportunity to showcase and experience their creative endeavors in an entirely new dimension. As part of the learning process, I guide my students in mastering 3D modeling techniques through software applications like Fusion360 and Blender.
A distinctive aspect of our curriculum involves instructing students on seamlessly transitioning their digital creations into virtual metaverse spaces utilizing platforms such as Spatial.io. By using virtual reality headsets, students can engage with their designs in a dynamic manner, gaining insights into scale and usability well before translating their concepts into the physical realm.
MetaBooth made its debut at the RIT 2023 FramelessLabs Symposium, garnering enthusiastic feedback from the tech community. As a dynamic and evolving project, MetaBooth is set to expand further, with the creation of additional assets and the presentation of numerous student projects. The virtual Industrial Design space will continue to foster connections and facilitate the exchange of knowledge throughout the RIT campus and beyond. This ongoing initiative promises to be a catalyst for collaborative endeavors, contributing to a vibrant ecosystem of innovation and shared insights.
